W.I.P

Just a super quick catchup with my work in progress. I have been wanting to do this one for a long, long, time. But alas, there are no patterns, so for 3 weeks I have been busy drafting away. It's an unknown quilt, a few ladies around the quilting circle have made their own versions. I'm calling it Heritage Gardens, in honour of the book I first seen it in and the beauty of the flora.

And that's it for now. Will catch up more in depth next time.

Stitch away!!!
Till next time,
Kel x

P.s

I thought I would amend my post just so you all know what I'm on about ;)

The quilt is from this book.

It is by an unknown maker and currently resides in the Judkyn/Pratt collection in Bath.
It was entirely paper pieced. Can you believe it? Amazing!

Here is the original.

And here is the first version that I discovered a few years back when I bought a copy of Quilters Companion.

And this one is what some might call the sister or cousin quilt. It is based on the exact same theme, but this one seems to have finer work and I prefer the hexagons to the clam shells as well. Although I'm definitely going to incorporate both.

So, as you can see I will have my work cut out for me. Unfortunately there are no patterns for this quilt in its entirety, that I have found. And if your like me and it's just impossible to get to a workshop
( Katrina Hadjimichael has a workshop for her version called Pemberly) the only other option is to draft it yourself !
Wish me luck.

Kel.

  3. Wonderful to see all those versions and very well done with your drafting! I especially love the hexagon version and the combination of lots of dark browns with some light blue and pink. Pity it seems to have fallen apart :(

  10. Thank you :)
I have sewn all the leaves and vines down. Now I'm madly sewing hexagons together for the next round of appliqué. I can't wait until the centre is complete!
