Quick Catchup

Wow, has this week been a busy one.
Uni Deadlines for my eldest,19,  Assignments due for my 17 year old and my youngest, 13, decides to make it his mission this week to be less than accommodating !
I am glad it is Friday  :)

On a  C a l m e r  note.
I did have some time to stitch on my new quilt. It seems to be evolving nicely.
Not sure yet whether its going to grace a bed or wall.
We shall see how much stamina I have.

Petals for the border

These Hexy Flowers will go above and below the petal border in the 4 corners

I adore this Beige Toile, its from the Olivia range by Benartex

Love my Birdies

Regarding Phebe, I have finished all the little flowers and except for the bird beaks I think the vase and flowers are done. Now onto the sheep and couple.

Well that's it from me,
It's Officially my favourite time of the day.......Sitting in front of the telly with Needle in Hand  :)
Till next time,
Kel.

Rain, Homespun and Quilts

It's been raining here all day, which as you know is perfect stitching weather :)
I've been working on my Phebe, the Morell and a new addition this week. All the lovely new books and patterns out there have been getting my creative juices flowin!

Leaves  For Phebe all orderly and numbered

With all the leaves finished

 With Birdies Added

Birdie and small flowers

I lamented over the fabric for this particular birdie. I wanted the wings to stand out and be "Feather-Like"
This was the closest material I had

I really, really like the colours for the Birds. Its yummy looking and softens the whole centre.
I'm very happy with the way its turning out.
It's good when you feel good about your work, if only for a little while !
I usually go back and forth between hating it and loving it :)

I began work on the second row of my Daughters "Blue"  Morell Quilt.

I started with a simple Broderie Perse block that I could fit in during the week with all my other stitching.

My Morell thus far

Block 1 row 1

Block 2 row 1

Block 3 row 1

Block 4 row 1

Block 5 row 1

Block 6 row 1

Block 7 row 1

Block 8 row 1

For quite a while now I've been mulling over a quilt design.
Not quite sure of it in its entirety but I knew it had to be Repro Fabrics and lots of applique leaves and flowers.

So, my week began with this little basket.

Then came the leaves

Then a little flourish on the basket

The rest of the photos show it all prepared and ready to applique down

I loved designing the flowers, that was fun !

And lastly but by no means least the Eastleigh Quilt by Margaret Mew.
I bought this months Homespun especially for the pattern.
I love the Yummy factor this quilt has and its Simple Beauty.

So many possibilities for colour.
And don't you think the centre panel would make a darling Mini Quilt for the wall?
Or perhaps a cushion?
I love it.
It has been added to my list of future conquests!

Till next time,
Keep on Stitching :)

Winter is nearly with us

Winter is almost upon us. We had our first real frost of the season this morning and we were  fighting to stay warm all day.

This is what my neck of the woods looks like in Autumn.

"Lila" our blue cattle dog
Playing around in the fallen leaves

Enough with the looming winter and onto more important matters...........

Di's book
I got this stack out today and began wondering what if any quilts could be suitable to use it in.

I was thinking maybe the Austeen to showcase the lovely florals?

And this is why i bought the book in the first place. The gorgeous wedding quilt.
Just look at those colours.

With mothers day coming up my task for tonight is finishing off my mums crochet round pillow.
Will post picks when finished.
I posted some pics of my basket blocks. Just click on the basket pic in the top right hand corner to take a peek.
I hope everyone gets around to stitching today :)
Till next time.

Phebe Quilt

Im Kel.
Stay at home mum of three and totally addicted to all things quilting and applique.
I am currently working on the Phebe quilt by Di Ford.
I am completely in love with this quilt. Its totally yummy and the colours that Di uses in her version are to die for. I have two Phebe's going at once, mainly due to purchasing Di's new book, Primarily Quilts. I had already bought the Phebe pattern from Threadbear and had happily begun stitching. Then i got Di's book and realised that I would have to make one in the same colour way as Di's original. Then I realised something else. Those fabrics are long gone and rarer than Hens Teeth !
So, i compromised. I still needed to make it in the same fabulous colour way as Di's so i will try and accomplish that with what I have.
So here are the pics of both versions. Hope you all like them.
Till next time.

Phebe Quilt #1

Original Quilt before Di's Wonderful, Wonderful Book Arrived
I decided to make it Quirky, Broderie Perse for the flowers, Stripey cane for the gentleman.

Haven't finished the Berries yet
Had a very hard time choosing from my limited stash for the clothing for the two of them.

Birdies still in need of their black beaks.

Phebe Quilt #2

Trying to replicate the original quilts "Flavour".
I couldn't find any red fabric for the vase that looked right and I have also added a purple colour with the centre flower.

This was the only Tree fabric I could find in our tiny one patchwork fabric shop town,
that even came close to the original

I like to do the Circles Free hand, as you can tell.

Weighing up the centre colour combination
